Oh Sh*t You’re a Grown Up
Life comes at you fast. Suddenly you’re being quizzed on things like 529 plans and backdoor Roth IRAs. It’s time to step up and be responsible with your money and financial goals. But unlike 2 AM feeds - you don’t have to be in this alone.
Advisor.com lets you compare expert financial advisors and select a vetted fiduciary to handle your investing. They evaluate credentials, client reviews, and an advisor’s overall experience to make sure you are in good hands.
FEATURED BRAND
Baltic Watches
There are so many watches across the micro and independent brand space. One of those near the top of the list is Baltic. Baltic is a French watch company, founded by Etienne Malec in 2016. Their mission is to create timeless watches to be worn and preserved for future generations.
After seeing them as a featured brand on Teddy Baldasarre's microbrand video (link), I reached out to Baltic on Instagram to see if I could ask them a few questions. They were down!
Let’s take a look at their featured watch.
The MR01 is a dress watch that can handle more than just a black-tie event. Not only is it eye-catching, but its specs are something you can wear out and about. With its beautiful salmon color and small seconds dial, the MR01 is classically beautiful yet modernly practical.
Watch Specs:
Case: 36 mm
Crystal: High-domed hesalite
Size: 36 mm
Lug Width: 20 mm
Thickness: 9.9 mm
Water Resistance: 30 m
Movement: Hangzhou CAL5000a Micro-rotor
Power Reserve: 42 hours
Price: $594 USD
Yes, all of that for less than $500 USD. It’s an incredible watch. If you’re looking to add a dress watch to your collection, check out the MR01 now!
I was interested in watches. But I was lost. I couldn't find one place with all the info I needed to make an informed purchase. So I went on a mission. I wrote Watch Collecting 101 to be your one-stop shop. It’s everything you need to know to start collecting. Own The Watch. |
Q&A WITH BALTIC
Paul Dufour answers my questions about Baltic Watches!
Q: Who are you, what is your role at Baltic and what are some of the things you do for the company?
A: Hi guys, I'm Paul, in charge of the marketing and communication at Baltic Watches for 3 years. My scope is quite broad and includes website management, advertising, CRM, press relations... and lots of other things 😀
Q: What inspired Etienne to start Baltic, and what sets it apart from others in the market?
A: Etienne's passion for watchmaking is now a long story! It all began with his father's collection, which he unfortunately didn't get to know well enough. His father meticulously jotted down in a notebook all the timepieces that passed through his hands.
When Etienne came across this notebook in his teens, it was the beginning of his watchmaking story. In 2016, Etienne decided to create his own brand to pass on this passion. Please find more information about the story of Baltic here.
Q: What is your creative process like when designing a new watch model?
A: At Baltic, Etienne, the founder, is in charge of watch design. He works closely with our designer to imagine the watches he himself would like to wear. After this phase, the entire Baltic team can give its opinion. A prototype is then designed.
Q: What model is your personal favorite, and why? What's the story behind it?
A: Over the course of my career at Baltic, my tastes have changed so much! My story began with the Aquascaphe Classic White, moved on to the Aquascaphe Dual-Crown Blue and ends today with the Hermetic Tourer Blue: a versatile fieldwatch that can accompany me every day.
Q: What are some of the coolest stories or adventures that a Baltic watch has been on?
A: We have two stories that have really made an impact on us recently:
For the second time, we were able to take part in the Only Watch charity auction, offering a Quantième Perpétuel that we had developed. It took over 2 years of hard work, and we're very, very proud of it! This creation raised CHF 55,000 for the association.
Baltic's co-founders have always been car enthusiasts. Two years ago, we embarked on a partnership with one of the world's finest races, Le Tour Auto, as Official Timekeeper. Our watch, specially designed for the event, had the honor of being worn by Ari Vatanen, world rally champion and 4-time winner of the Dakar Rally. A real consecration for us!
Q: What are you most excited about? Any upcoming releases, collaborations or projects?
A: We've got a lot of projects in the pipeline, and unfortunately I can't say too much about them, but I can't wait to present them to you! All I can say right now is that we will open a new showroom in New York at the end of June 😀
Summary
With so many great things going on, you need to check out Baltic and add a watch to your collection today. I am excited to see the showroom in NYC. As a long-time East-Coaster, I have no doubt that people will travel from all over the US to check this out!
