Graduation Time! The Three Best Watches For Your New Grad
Hey Watch Nerds!
Let’s talk about watches for new graduates.
It’s that time of year. Graduation. I’ve been seeing lots of articles recommending the “best” watches for new graduates. They all suck. I could sit here pissed off, or do something about it.
So here I am. Writing this for you. These are three watches that I would actually buy my son, for a high school graduation.
But first…

ULTIMATE GRAD WRIST SWAG
Three watches for your new graduate
Rules, rules, rules. I made these picks for:
18 year old boy
Graduating high school
A budget of around $1,000 USD
These are all automatic watches that I would spend my money on. If my son were graduating today, I would buy one of these. I stand by these watches as high-quality, entry-level watches at an affordable price.

Hamilton Khaki Field Murph Auto ($995)
I love Hamilton watches. I personally own one. While I normally recommend the Khaki Field Auto, the "Murph" is equally amazing. This was the watch worn in the 2014 movie, Interstellar. But it's not just Hollywood hype.
For less than $1,000, this watch gives you a:
Sapphire crystal
80-hour power reserve
100 meters of water resistance
It also looks great. The strap width is 20 mm (the most common size) so your new grad can easily change the "vibe."
At a 42 mm case size, it's a bit big. But don't worry, it also comes in a 38 mm variant for only $895. With a black dial, this watch will look good with any outfit.
Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Automatic ($810)
Christopher Ward doesn't always get the publicity they deserve. This Sealander Automatic is a great choice if your son never takes his watch off.
This watch is a great choice because:
150 meters of water resistance
Built-in anti-shock system
Bright illumination to see in the dark
At 39 mm in case size, this is perfect for all wrist sizes. It also has a date complication, so your boy will never forget when to call you! If this one doesn't tickle your fancy, Christopher Ward has many other similarly priced models.
Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 ($825)
Your son (or you) will never go wrong with a Tissot. This Gentleman is classy and sporty and doesn't break the bank.
I would buy my son this watch because:
80-hour power reserve (incredible)
Sapphire crystal and see-through case back
100 meters of water resistance
This is the best watch on this list. 40 mm case size with all these (and more) great features, it's my number one pick. Buy this for your son now!
Summary
Get your son something special for graduating high school. It’s a big deal! More importantly, get him something that reminds him of you every time he looks at it.
Watches are a great way to leave a legacy. And who knows, maybe one day he will give this watch to his son.
