TIME TIPS

Nobody likes to talk about it, but regular maintenance is essential for keeping your watches in tip-top shape.

Here are 3 reasons 👇️

Maintain Accuracy

Over time, the lubricants in your watch movement can degrade, making it less accurate. Regular servicing cleans and re-lubricates the movement. This makes your watch run smoothly and accurately. Additionally, adjustments can be made to regulate the watch's timekeeping if needed.

Preserve Functionality

During servicing, watchmakers inspect all components of the watch. Like the movement, case, and seals. Any worn or damaged parts are replaced, and adjustments are made to ensure optimal performance. This proactive approach prevents potential issues from developing into bigger problems. These could be more expensive and even compromise the functionality of your watch. See below

Protect Your Investment

High-quality watches can be significant investments, both financially and sentimentally. Regular servicing helps protect this investment by keeping your watch in top condition. Addressing minor issues now, allows you to avoid more costly repairs later. Additionally, a well-maintained watch retains its value better over time. Whether you plan to keep it for yourself or eventually sell or pass it down to future generations.

Summary

Personal story. My wife has an older Rolex (1999) that we bought pre-owned. From what we can tell, it’s never been serviced. It’s a beautiful watch. But it’s never been maintained. The power reserve is way lower than it should be. And some of the screws/lugs on the bracelet are worn down to almost nothing.

So, we paid to send it off to get serviced. Sure, it’s a decent chunk of change, but knowing that my daughters will wear this one day makes it worth doing.
