Hollywood Thrills: 3 Watches You'll See In The Movies
Hey Watch Nerds!
Fun fact. Back when pocket watches were popular, wristwatches were not a thing. Historical accounts show that men relied on pocket watches up until WW1. Wristwatches on the other hand were designed for women. Only after the war did men begin to wear them, due to their convenience and practicality.

A FLICK ON THE WRIST
We’re jumping right into it today. Here are some watches that you may (or may not) recognize from the movies. These aren’t just any movies…
These are three of my all-time favorites. Enjoy!
Seiko Giugiaro 7A28-7000 (Aliens, 1986)
A watch born from the collaboration of Seiko and the genius behind iconic cars like the DeLorean. (more on that later)
The Seiko Giugiaro 7A28-7000 was handpicked by James Cameron for Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley in Aliens. It adds a dash of automotive flair to the sci-fi scene.
With its quirky, blocky design, it's like Ripley strapped on a piece of high-tech gadgetry straight from a car dashboard.
Sure, the movie isn’t all rainbows and unicorns, but this watch? It's a sought-after gem for collectors and movie buffs alike. A little piece of history that says, "I’m here to kick alien butt and look cool doing it!"
Casio CA53W Twincept Databank (Back to the Future, 1985)
You know him. Dr. Emmett Brown, the time-traveling genius. He's making his grand entrance with his trusty JVC camcorder and a declaration about "temporal experiment number one."
Queue, Marty McFly, the fashion icon of 1985 in his red life preserver. He casually checks his wrist, revealing a hefty Casio that screams "futuristic tech."
It's a tad clunky now, but in 1985, a calculator watch was the pinnacle of cool. Hamilton's Pulsar was causing a stir, and everyone was racing to develop digital quartz watches. With its ability to store names and numbers, it's no wonder Marty's bewildered self relied on a Casio CA53W to hit 88mph into the future.
Hamilton Ventura (Men in Black, 1997)
The Hamilton Ventura: a watch so cool that Elvis demanded it for Blue Hawaii. And later, it graced the wrists of Men in Black agents (well, before the sequels got a bit out there). With its retro-futuristic vibe, it's like a time machine back to the '50s. It's perfect for battling aliens while looking sharp. It's ready for you're crooning like The King or fighting intergalactic threats.
The Ventura's sleek design and lizard skin strap add a touch of class to any outfit. Just remember, it's not just a watch; it's a piece of Hollywood history, making aliens and Elvis both look good since 1957.
Summary
In the wild world of Hollywood and beyond, these watches aren't just accessories. They're iconic scene-stealers! From Marty's time-traveling escapades to alien encounters, these timepieces add flair and functionality to the silver screen.
So, next time you check your wrist, think of the adventures these watches have seen. And who knows, maybe your trusty timekeeper will lead you on a thrilling journey of your own—just without the aliens or time paradoxes, hopefully!
