Built to Endure: Inside the Nodus Watchmaking Philosophy
How Nodus is redefining microbrand watches with Efficient Design, Los Angeles roots, and a passionate community.
Built to Endure: Inside the Nodus Watchmaking Philosophy
Nodus Watches didn’t emerge from a boardroom. It was built in the trenches—by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. With every click of a bezel and sweep of a hand, Nodus continues to prove that tool watches can be beautifully crafted, obsessively tested, and deeply connected to the people who wear them.
In an exclusive conversation with Jake, Nodus’ Marketing Manager, we got a behind-the-scenes look at what makes the brand tick—from their LA-based design ethos to cutting-edge innovations like NodeX and a growing community of diehard fans.

The LA Influence: Terrain + Culture = Design
Nodus is proudly rooted in Los Angeles, and it shows in their designs. “LA’s a melting pot of cultures,” Jake noted. “We’re influenced by many classic and iconic watches but put a twist on them to make them our own.” The brand’s sporty, tool-watch aesthetic isn’t just a design choice—it’s born from the diverse environments around them: coastlines, mountains, deserts.
This focus on versatility shows up in the Sector Series, especially the new Sector II Sport. It’s slimmer than its predecessor—rare for an NH-based movement—and sports a redesigned crystal and new crown system that boost legibility and water resistance. “We actually test these watches without the crown screwed down, and they still pass the water resistance check,” Jake said.
Beyond Watches: The NodeX Vision
Innovation doesn’t stop with the dial. The NodeX division is a skunkworks for Nodus, and one of its breakthroughs is the proprietary clasp extension system, which they’ve begun licensing to other companies.
They’re also quietly developing a new generation of the Nodex adjustment module—shorter, better finished, and more premium than ever. “NodeX is just the beginning,” Jake hinted.
Building a Movement—Literally and Figuratively
Nodus doesn’t just make watches—they build community. Events like Intersect and the original “Nodus Tours” were born from a desire to connect with other watch lovers face-to-face. “We operate with the mentality that a rising tide raises all ships,” Jake said. “If we can do something that helps everyone, it helps us too.”
That mindset also powers their Design Lab, a platform for custom timepieces. “It’s fun to try new things that wouldn’t otherwise fit into our core collection,” Jake explained. “But every aspect still goes through us to make sure it aligns with our DNA.”
What’s Next? Titanium and Beyond
Jake wouldn’t spill all the details on what’s coming—but he did reveal the launch of Nodus’ first titanium watch in April: the Sector II Field Ti. It marks the end of the original Sector model updates and the beginning of a new chapter for the brand.
“We’re always iterating,” he said. “New materials, finishing processes, Design Lab secrets—there’s a lot coming. And while we’ve joked about starting Nodus Beer Co., for now our focus is right here.”
For Nodus, watchmaking isn’t about riding trends—it’s about building something that lasts.
Final Word: Why Nodus Matters
From reimagining sapphire crystals to building a community-first culture, Nodus isn’t just shaping watches—they're reshaping the space they operate in. With Intersect events, nods to LA’s outdoor lifestyle, and genuine engagement with their audience, Nodus proves that passion and precision can coexist at scale.
With their first titanium release on the horizon and secret Design Lab collaborations in the works, now is the perfect time to get familiar with what Nodus is building.
